About ADHD Coach, Carolyn Verhoef

Being Outside the Box as a Certified ADHD Coach

You need to feel I have the skills and understanding to support you in overcoming your challenges and reaching your goals.

That’s what you’re here for, right? Answers and a way forward to a life you love!

At a time when my life had little direction and meaning, I found my strengths were hiding away. Uncovering those strengths led me to a sense of purpose. This purpose has been my driving force for over 17 years as a Professional Organiser and Certified Coach. Along the way, I cultivated my skills with the most inspiring experts  in the field.

Thinking outside the box is who I am! That’s where I love exploring with you as your coach to uncover your strengths and uniqueness so you can be more of who you are.

I balance things out with lots of puppy cuddles and walks by the stunning rivers of Perth, WA, with my talented Photographer husband, Nick. Like many of you, I have a strong pull to a creative life. I’ve been in love with dance all my life and have spent the last 25 years immersed in Middle Eastern dance.

Carolyn

When our minds experience ease, flow and curiosity, we can be more of who we are and become the powerful person we want to be.

What &How

My Approach to Coaching

What is an ADHD Coach?

What on earth does that mean?

Coaching is a partnership where we take time to understand who you are and find ways to create change that brings you closer to a life that fits.

Personality, lifestyle, learning style, neurological diversity, innate strengths, family dynamics and other influences all play a part, so you need a unique approach.

My approach to ADHD coaching and Positive Intelligence coaching is secured firmly in action, awareness of self and surroundings and learning.

Using an outside the box philosophy, I bring holistic methodologies, creativity, and fun, partnering with you to design strength-based strategies and solutions.

How does Outside the Box Coaching work?

When I began as a Professional Organiser in 2007, I quickly realised that organisation doesn’t happen by putting things neatly in boxes. Being organised happens in our minds and behaviours.

Making lasting changes in our minds and behaviours requires us to generate awareness of ourselves and our surroundings. We then need to take action from this awareness. Finally, we must evaluate the learning to consolidate what works for us.

I’m going to be completely honest with you, I don’t want to waste your precious time! This is why all my programs are a minimum of 12 weeks. Experience with thousands of clients has proven this is the minimum amount of time to create lasting change.

We can work together 1:1, in a group, online, or in person. Together, you will build long-lasting skills and strategies. This is how you create lasting, sustainable change, reduce stress and procrastination, and demystify prioritisation.

Background

Evolution of Outside the Box

Applying a coaching approach was the obvious choice for me to support clients in organising their homes and businesses way back in 2007 when I founded my company in Sydney, Australia, Outside the Box Organisation Solutions.

I brought practical, sustainable, and behavioural-centred solutions to clients from years in management roles that demanded a high level of skill in organising, productivity and team performance.

After moving to Perth, Western Australia, in 2011, I started to source extra training to support existing ADHD clients as a Professional Organiser and Life Purpose Coach. I then realised that many of my innate strategies were ideal for those identifying as neurodiverse.

In 2017 I began training with Coach Approach for Organizers. I graduated from the foundation program in 2019 and achieved Certified Organizer Coach COC in 2020. Simultaneously I became an International Coaching Federation ICF Associate Certified Coach under their rigorous application process. Also, in 2019, I was accredited by the Institute of Professional Organisers as an Expert Professional Organiser, which means I’ve served over 2000hrs with clients and attended over 170hrs of Professional Development.

I split my time between Professional Organising and ADHD Coaching. But, the need for specialised ADHD Organising Coaching grew beyond my expectations. So in 2023, we decided to close the Professional Organising Services arm of the business to give more accessibility to people seeking ADHD Coaching.
