Have you ever spent hours or even days or weeks thinking, stewing and researching to help make decisions? I know I have, and it’s not till after the fact I realised what a waste of time and energy it was.
Now, of course, this isn’t true for all decision-making. Big life-changing decisions require different methods to help us come to the best conclusion. But for the multitude of the smaller decisions, we are far better off taking the jump in feet first approach.
So how do we take the leap of faith without having an anxiety attack over the consequences? It takes just two brief questions.
Ask yourself,
“What’s the worse thing that could happen if I say yes to this?”
And
“What’s the worse thing that could happen if I say no to this?”
The biggest benefit to using this method for those smaller decisions is that you get unstuck fast. It will stop you from going into avoidance and procrastination. This is especially true for all those decluttering decisions. It’s incredibly simple but can be a very effective method for your decision-making.
I was interviewed for Nine News on the subject, which highlights the effect of clutter on our decision-making. Take a look at the interview below.
I hope the series on making difficult decisions easier helps you evaluate the different methods you can apply in different situations. Most importantly, I hope it helps you declutter your life plus organise and simplify the things that can hold you back from living and experiencing more.
